Abstract

The aims of this research is to estimating biomass in mangrove, analyzing carbon storage, and analyzing the potential for  CO2 gas uptake in sonneratia alba stands. The stands of Sonneartia alba species taken to estimate carbon content are stands with a diameter of  ≥ 5 cm (Hairiah and Rahayu, 2007), and an area of 150 m long and 100 m wide. Total stands of Sonneratia alba analyzed were 741 stands. The overall value of the biomass content of Sonneratia alba was 799.434.998 / ha. The higher the tree density, the greater of biomass content in an observed area. In addition to the number of trees, tree diameter also affects the value of biomass, the larger the tree diameter the greater the biomass stored. Water quality parameters measured include water temperature, salinity and water pH which were measured simultaneously with mangrove sampling. The temperature at the study site was in the range of 27ºC - 29ºC. Meanwhile, the salinity ranges from 10‰ - 12‰. The degree of acidity (pH) of water ranges from 6-7.
